Single/Multiple Implants

Dental implants are frequently a preferable choice when restoring missing teeth, offering some significant advantages compared with a tooth-supported dental bridge. We can design and fit single or multiple dental implants as required.

Single Dental Implants

A single dental implant is an excellent solution when restoring a single missing tooth and will emerge from the gum just like a real tooth, so it is virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth. Unlike a tooth-supported dental bridge, an implant is self-supporting, and there is no need to reshape the adjacent teeth. The implant protects natural teeth, preventing unwanted tooth movements that can affect tooth stability and your bite. Restoring missing teeth also ensures that the forces created when you bite or chew food are spread evenly, preventing excessive wear and tear to your natural teeth. Perhaps the most important reason for choosing a single dental implant or any form of implant treatment is the protective effect on your jawbone.

How Can a Dental Implant Protect Your Jawbone?

As you bite down on a natural tooth, the sensation is transmitted through the tooth, into the tooth root, and out into the surrounding bone, providing the necessary stimulation to ensure old bone cells are continually renewed. When a natural tooth is removed, this stimulation is lost, and the bone that used to surround the tooth root quickly resorbs, potentially destabilizing the adjacent teeth. Dental implants are the only treatment that can protect against jawbone loss.

Multiple Implants

If you are missing more than one tooth, we can restore them using multiple dental implants. When missing teeth were originally adjacent to each other, we can often fit an implant-supported bridge using multiple dental implants for support. It isn’t necessary to restore every tooth with a separate implant, so treatment is more cost-effective. If the adequate jawbone is available, we can even restore entire arches of ten or twelve teeth using six or more optimally placed implants for support. Jawbone loss is prevented in the area immediately surrounding each dental implant.

Will a Single or Multiple Dental Implants Look and Feel Natural?

We take enormous care when designing all implant treatments, ensuring each dental implant is located correctly so that once restored, it will look and feel very natural. We only use the highest quality materials and our dental lab is skilled in making sure your implant teeth are correctly contoured and shaded, blending in with existing teeth beautifully. Most importantly, your implant teeth are fully functional, so you can eat, talk, and laugh with complete confidence.
